Blanchette East

French // Brick Lane

I love this restaurant. Intimate and elegant Parisian bistro-style restaurant - the perfect date spot. A fusion of traditional French delicacies combined with the flavours of North African cuisine. Grab the table by the window to watch the buzz of Brick Lane go by outside.

204 Brick Lane, E1 6SA

Modern European // Spitalfields

Based in the heart of Spitalfields, this little gem has a beautiful covered garden filled with plants and wooden tables. A small but creative menu of Modern European food. (Apparently the breakfast/brunch menu is worth a try too!)

65A Brushfield St, E1 6AA

  Mediterranean // Columbia Road

Despite living 30 seconds from this restaurant, it took me months to figure out the name due to the signless exterior. The decor is simple with beautiful high ceilings, white-painted brick, plain wooden tables and large windows. Quality ingredients, well thought out menu and a relaxed atmosphere - what more could you want?!

49 Columbia Road, London, E2 7RG

Breddos Tacos

Mexican // Clerkenwell

Okay, so maybe not technically East but wanted to include some of the best tacos I have had in London. Full of flavour - try the Baja Fish and Masa Fried Chicken!

82 Goswell Road, London, EC1V 7DB

 Neapolitan Pizza // Shoreditch

You just can't beat sourdough pizza. Bufi has recently opened it's second site just round the corner from me. This tiny little restaurant serves some of the best pizza in London.

19 Hackney Road, E2 7NX

Vietnamese // Hoxton

Kingsland Road is one of the best spots to head if you fancy proper Vietnamese food. BúnBúnBún is a small restaurant and usually packed (good sign!). Tables are squeezed tightly together but the food is authentic and with bold flavours. The service can be a bit slow especially when busy but a great and lively atmosphere.

134B Kingsland Road, London, E2 8DY

Campania & Jones

Italian // Columbia Road

This tiny rustic restaurant is a few minutes from where I live. Also doubles up as a good breakfast spot and during the flower market on Sunday you'll be fighting for a table. However, during the rest of the week this quiet spot serves some of the best pasta I have had in London.

23 Ezra Street, London, E2 7RH

Corner Room

Modern European // Bethnal Green

One of my favourite interiors in London and one you will most likely have seen on Instagram. The Corner Room is located within the grand Town Hall Hotel but offers a more casual, intimate dining affair. Offering a small but seasonal and creative menu at a reasonable price!

Dirty Bones

American // Shoreditch

The interior is stunning (and definitely my favourite of their locations), with plush velvet chairs, pendent ball lighting and one of the most beautiful bars in Shoreditch. American style food - expect meat-heavy dishes and the breakfast menu will definitely have you breaking your diet with the Banana Toblerone-tella Waffles (could there be a better mix?!)

1 Club Row, Shoreditch, E1 6JX

Turkish // Angel

Okay Okay, I know Angel does not really count as East London but had to include this gorgeous Middle Eastern restaurant on my list. It is so popular that they now have three individual locations on the same strip of road!. The busy interior is filled with terracotta painted walls, fabulous hanging lamps and walls covered in framed prints. This family run business servers food that is full of flavour. Recommend the falafels!

120 Upper St, London, N1 1QP

Tapas // Hackney Road -

Drawing influence from Southern Spain, the Mediterranean and North Africa, Morito's menu is creative and will have you struggling to narrow down your plates. Try a bit of everything from deep fried cuttlefish, to braised pork cheeks and cretan salad.

195 Hackney Rd, E2 8JL

Japanese // Broadway Market

At the heart of Broadway Market is this great little Japanese restaurant. Healthy dishes bursting with flavour. See my longer review here.

49 Broadway Market, E8 4PH

On The Bab

Korean // Hoxton

There is always a queue outside and while it no one likes to queue, you are guaranteed some good food. Expect Korean fast food such as steamed buns, bulgogi beef and bibimbab.

305 Old Street, EC1V 9LA

Mediterranean // Spitalfields -

A deli/restaurant hybrid perfect for any meal. The window is always full of colourful salads and pastries making it hard to not stop when walking past! The menu is based on Yoram Ottolenghi's native Israeli background and combined with a Mediterranean and Middle East flavours and ingredients which results in a unique and delicious menu! A relaxed dining atmosphere, with take-away also available.

50 Artillery Lane, E1 7LJ

BBQ // Shoreditch -

Having sourced the best smoker from Texas, David Carter has swapped fine dining to bring the best barbecued meat to London. After it's huge success as a street food stall in Dinerama, Smokestak has found a new home just off Brick Lane. Brisket, ribs, pastrami... a must visit for meat lovers!

35 Sclater Street, E16lb

Song Que Cafe

Vietnamese // Hoxton

One of the best on Kingsland road. From the outside it doesn't look like much but owner Anh Phuoc Thi Pham creates authentic dishes including delicious steaming bowls of pho.

134 Kingsland Road, E2 8DY

Pizza // Hoxton, Bethnal Green, Clapton + Walthamstow

Definitely up there with the best pizza in London - a go to for my friends and I when feeling too lazy to cook! Delicious sourdough bases, fresh seasonal toppings and a great selection of drinks including my new favourite, orange wine. Really affordable!

Multiple Locations

Greek // Brick Lane

One of my favourite greek restaurants in London. Small plates seem to be all the rage at the moment but the bonus is that you get to try more of the menu. Tasty meat, fluffy pittas, lots of veg and tzatziki... yum.

161 Brick Lane, London, E1 6SB

Tonkotsu East

Ramen // Haggerston -

Ramen is a new found love for me and nothing beats this comfort food on a cold winters day. Tonkotsu's 'Chilli Chicken' Ramen beats all others for me!
